Gartner: Tablets are already overtaking the 2016 PC sales

In 2016 the volume of sales will be higher than the tablet PCs (Dual Core Tablet PC)and laptops, said the market researcher Ranjit Atwal from market research firm Gartner, the news agency dpa.

For the current year, Gartner expects a global sales volume of 2.4 billion PCs, tablet computers and smartphones - an increase of 9 percent. Tablets for an increase by 69.8 percent to 197 million units is expected.

In simple cell phones and smartphones, market researchers expect an increase of 6.9 percent to 1.9 billion units. However, Gartner estimates that sales of PCs and laptops, including the "ultraportable" laptops will drop by 3.5 percent to 339 million units. The declining demand for PCs is not a passing trend of economic development, but "reflects a long-term change in the user behavior reflected".

The basic software for all of these devices comes mostly from Google: the share of the operating system Android is rising, according to Gartner from 35.7 percent this year to 49.5 percent in 2017 - on all kinds of devices away.

In second place 2017, the Microsoft Windows system is at 19.3 percent - mainly due to the dominance of Windows on the classic PC(CHUWI V99), which then increasingly only in the company is regularly used. For the Apple iOS and MacOS systems Gartner estimates the proportion in 2017 to 17.0 percent.
