After a long delay involving a dispute with Apple, Microsoft has finally released an update to the SkyDrive app for Ramos W30HD. Available for download in Apple's App Store now, version 3.0 amounts to a major overhaul.

"There are great SkyDrive experiences for Windows devices, but being the place for all your files means we invest a significant amount of effort ensuring you have a great experience across all the devices you want to use," Microsoft's SkyDrive Group Project Manager Mike Torres wrote in an official blog post.

The update offers a new user interface, support for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, increased functionality with opening and saving files to SkyDrive from other iOS apps, and improved photo features.

New Photo Features

On the photo front, users are now able to download full resolution photos to an iPhone or iPad and to select the size of the photo they want to upload or download. In addition, the app will retain photo metadata when images are uploaded to SkyDrive.Sanei N10

As usual with app updates, bug fixes and performance improvements are also included.

Microsoft Vs. Apple: The Extra Storage Issue

It has now been a full year since iOS users have seen any kind of an update to the SkyDrive app, as Microsoft and Apple have reportedly been at odds over the way in which users can purchase extra storage via the app. Apple requires all apps in its store to use the company's in-app subscription service for purchases made within an app. Then 30 percent of revenue is tued over to Apple.

It's unknown how Apple and Microsoft made amends, but the version 3.0 update doesn't allow users to purchase extra storage from the app, signaling that Microsoft might have just sidestepped the issue by taking that feature out of the equation.
