Quanta to See Annual Shipment of Tablet PCs Exceed 15 M. Units in 2012

Taipei, Dec. 26, 2012 (CENS)--Driven by hot-selling Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7, Quanta Computer Inc., the world's largest laptop contract manufacturer by shipment, is confident of achieving annual shipment of over 15 million tablet PCs in 2012, double the figure for 2011,(ampe a10 quad core) according to the president C.C. Liang, who furthered that the company's tablet PC shipment will keep surging in 2013. Institutional investors said that Quanta is expected to ship 19 million tablet PCs in 2013, 26% more than 2012, to consolidate its leading status in the global supply chain of non-iPad models. With some brand vendors, including Acer and Asus, reported to launch tablet PCs at extremely low unit prices of under US$99 in 2013 to trigger throat-cutting competition, Liang opines that success of such pricing strategies remains to be seen, for low selling prices will compromise technological specifications of tablet PCs, given the fact that current production costs have hit the bottom to reduce.CUBE U9GT

Meanwhile, Liang also expresses his conservative outlook for the global market for laptops in 2012. He said that his company may fail to accomplish the 5% annual shipment growth goal for 2012, partly because the launch of Microsoft's new operating system Windows 8 fails to stimulate consumer demand for new PC (YuanDao N90FHD)replacements as significantly as expected before. In lieu of a persistently slack market, Liang stressed that innovation is definitely needed to revive consumer demand, so his company has actively teamed up with customers on developing new laptop models with innovative functionality, such as thinner exterior design and touchscreen. Worth mentioning is that Liang confirmed that he will take part in the next Inteational Consumer Electronics Show slated for January 8-13, 2013, in Las Vegas, in efforts to meet customers personally.
